Artist Statement:
Ancient Egypt is one of the most fascinating ancient cities full of secrets. Pre-columbian pyramids have mimicked Egyptian pyramids without any contact between the two ancient civilizations. Their gods may have been different but their attempt to reach them was similar. I wanted to capture their different gods but similar approaches by an ambitious god that looked a like a mixture of Osiris, Anubis and Xolotl. The hanging inverse pyramid represents the reflection of ancient Egypt on the civilization of Pre-Columbia. The reason the last side and bottom on the pyramid is open is to show what is inside almost the opposite of what is a secret. it seems like the staircase stops halfway down meaning the discoveries we have made on these civilizations are not finished and will continue until it becomes a labyrinth.
